Hi readers,
Do you have fears or phobias that people may consider strange? I think I do.
Fear is an intense emotion that is caused by a threat. These threats can attack our physical, emotional or psychological well-being. People can be afraid of multiple threats. Some of these threats can be dogs, enclosed spaces, heights, public speaking, snakes and spiders. Some phobias can seem strange but they happen to be just as scary to the people who have those fears. People can be afraid of clowns (https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/fear-of-clowns), string (https://psychtimes.com/linonophobia-fear-of-string/), long words (https://www.betterhelp.com/advice/phobias/can-people-really-have-a-fear-of-long-words/) and balloons (https://phobia.wikia.org/wiki/Globophobia) and beards (https://phobia.wikia.org/wiki/Pogonophobia). One phobia that I have always found interesting from a very young was xanthophobia. Check out this website (https://phobia.wikia.org/wiki/Xanthophobia) This is when people are afraid of the colour yellow or the word yellow. People with this phobia do not eat things like mustard, corn, and bananas or ride on a yellow school bus. I learned about this phobia was very young and was fascinated. My verbal communication was low at the time. I could not explain why I was really fascinated with it. The next thing that I decided was that I would be scared of the letters E and Z. The truth is, it was not a real phobia for me but I tried to copy this phobia. I can see this because I painted it a lot and talked about it a lot. I must have done this because I could not find what I was trying to say. I found it funny to have stumbled upon the information and I could not explain this fact to others. At the time, I found it funny to tell people randomly that I was afraid of these things.

While I was not afraid of the letters E or Z, you won’t believe what I was afraid of when I was a child. It was none of the things that I mentioned above. When I was younger, I had a fear of face paint. I got scared at fairs or at the Woodbine Mall. I was even scared at Halloween to the point of where we wanted no gore. That means no blood or face paint when we went trick or treating. When I was older, I got used to face paint. Now, I love dressing up. Drama is my favourite. We have so much fun with Halloween. We have Halloween parties but still no gore. You can grow out of your phobias. If you don’t, then you are not alone.
