Hi guys,
Guess what? I am working! Finding a job is challenging for a neurodiverse individual like me. But I did it two summers in a row. I am grateful that I got this job, but sometimes I have mixed feelings about it. It is not there all the time, but I worry that I am not going to be successful. However, the amazing thing is that I am working as part of a group at Karma Cares. Karma Cares is running Karma Country Camp programs for neurodiverse youth. I work with lots of welcoming and supportive people and a leader who is neurodiverse. It is an encouraging and inspirational environment.
The Anxiety Struggles Are Real, But I Think I Got This:
I used to have a lot of anxiety when I first started. Now it is less but still swarms around me like a pesky mosquito. I sometimes worry that I would be judged or worse, fired if I did not perform the right task. But I am getting used to asking questions and feeling more confident about my work.
Once a week, I meet with Roshni. She is like a mentor to me. She gives me feedback on my work and I give her some insight on my progress as well as any concerns I have. Believe it or not, everyone is really cool. This helps me feel more relaxed. So ya, I feel like I am getting better, and that is pretty fantabulous.
