Hi Readers!



I am writing to let you know that I have decided to lose weight and get stronger. I just finished my Seneca College Nutrition course with a 92% and realized that I am way overweight. My BMI is supposed to be between 19 to 24 and it is 29. I was scared and shocked to find I am at risk for hypertension, diabetes and some cancers. So, I have decided to put my health first. I went to see my Physiotherapist and I got a Personal Trainer.

I was nervous when I met my trainer. His name is Vijay. He is a really nice guy. I did some weight-lifting with him and cardio. He also told me to do my weight-lifting slower in order to feel the burn and so that I do not injure myself. The habits that I learned from him are to log my food, and do a cardio workout for no more than 30 minutes in addition to regular dog walks. I have made sure that I sweat during cardio because in the past I went slowly on the treadmill. It has been going well except my trainer cannot continue anymore. I saw him twice and then the gym was closed due to COVID. I was disappointed because I was looking forward to working out with him.

My goal is to continue my fitness regimen and I am reaching out to you to join me so that we can do this together. Some of you might be in wheelchairs, or like me have low muscle tone and vision issues, please know it does not matter what your strengths and weaknesses are, we are in this together to be stronger, kinder and more fit versions of yourselves.
