Hi readers,
I am so sorry that I have not been able to write more. I am busy with college. I have been also been spending lots of time with Siena. She is almost 10 months already. I was getting bored of practicing her sit, down, roll over, wait and come commands. I just wanted to teach Siena a new trick that was somewhat hard but easy at the same time. I thought of this all by myself. I wanted her to jump with her front paws up to me. Guess what, she learned it! She automatically jumps up after I raise both hands in the air. Sometimes she barks and jumps.
I was so proud of myself when she jumped up for the first time. It was a wonderful sight to see. We were about to go for a walk but with a treat in hand, I signalled up with jazz hands and she jumped up. I cannot believe that she performed the trick that I came up with on my own. What a good girl she is
Check out Siena’s new trick.
Some tips to train your pup when you have different physical strengths and weaknesses.
I believe anybody can train a dog with commands that work for them. Somethings are not easy for me to multitask so I need to come up with simple commands. Here are some things that work for me.
1. prepare your treat beforehand in one hand
2. think of a one- or two-word command like “Jump”
3. think of an action that you can do with your command. I like hand gestures using one hand so that I can keep the treats safe until it’s time to reward.
